North to Alaska! Part 1

April 27, 2012
Well, north anyway. I was sooo happy to get out of Florida (again) that I took this picture of the Georgia Welcome Center.

I-75, downtown Atlanta. This is why I rarely travel Interstates and avoid big cities, but sometimes if I want to get somewhere, I just have to do it..

At Carol"s in North Carolina. The RVs are washed and packed, almost ready to go. We'll drive together to western Tennessee. Then Carol goes on to Colorado to visit her son and I'll meet up with Mitch, another member of our traveling troupe. There are six of us in all, and if all goes according to plan we'll be together to cross the border into Canada at the end of May.

Carol and I traveled over the hills to western Tennessee. That is Carol's new RV ahead of me.

We stayed 2 nights at the free Meriwether Lewis campground on the Natchez Trace. This was a good place to try out my new folding bike with all the paved roads in the park.
May 5th
Carol and I parted ways as she traveled on to Colorado, and I went to forum friend Mitch's "Blue Marlin Resort." We're going to Alaska!
Mitch has a family of Killdeer here...three babies that hatched right outside her door.
The babies are so cute.
Thunderstorms came through during the night, but the morning sunrise was pretty.
Morning sun brings the frogs out on the banks of the pond.
All ready to leap to safety...
Mitch is busy getting chores done and things buttoned up before departure day...silly gal won't let me help. And she insists on feeding me too. I'll get her back.

Stay tuned for Part 2, coming soon.
